While parking and seating were more restricted than in years past, thousands of people still crammed into Alton’s Riverfront Park for last night’s Fireworks over the Mississippi. Parking lots in the park were filled just before 7pm, so many coming to the park had to find parking in downtown Alton and walk to the park.
Others watched from other vantage points, with people scattered around Broadway and the rest of Downtown. In addition to the fireworks, the festival a “Children’s Village” that included inflatables for the kids, glitter, airbrush and face painting as well as a balloon artist for a small fee. Alton-based band The Wherehouse Project played the Amphitheater stage followed by The United States Air Force Band of Mid America.
