An Alton teenager is being recognized as the "Youth of the Year" by the Illinois Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs'. Garret Parker, Junior received the honor, nudging out twenty other teens from local Boys and Girls Clubs in a competition last month.
Parker told judges about the trials he's had to face, and overcome, including the fact that he grew up without his father around. His dad was incarcerated on federal drug charges when Parker was just six years old. Parker says the Club has made a major difference in his life and has helped him discover his own ability to bring about change.
