Negotiations between the Alton Education Association and the Alton School District should resume after Thanksgiving. After the membership shot down the district's latest offer on Tuesday, both sides are heading back to the drawing board to try and find a deal all are comfortable with.
The sticking point continues to be the salary re-opener in the current contract, which is in its last year. Alton School District Finance Director Christopher Norman remains hopeful an agreement is coming.
AEA President Edie Banks says they remain optimistic, and feel there is a good line of dialogue between the two sides.
About 85-percent voting against the offer from the school district, down from 98-percent earlier this month.
