The victim of a beating on a Downtown Alton parking lot about a month ago remains hospitalized in critical condition while his alleged attackers prepare for trial. 43-year-old John Gleason of the 3,200 block of Belle Street in Alton is yet to wake up from the attack according to family members posting on social media. The twins accused of beating him unconscious have waived their right to a preliminary hearing.
That means a trial date could be set soon for 24-year-old Aaron Hosford of the 400 block of Prospect in Wood River and his brother Adam Hosford of the 100 block of Wood River Avenue in East Alton. They are each charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of mob action, and are being held on $100,000 bond. The attack happened at around 3am – closing time for the local bars – on May 3 on the big parking lot in downtown Alton bordered by Belle, Piasa, West 4th and West 5th Streets.
