Lawmakers are already looking forward to winter, creating a pilot program to keep students busy on snow days. The law may suck the fun out of snow days, but aims to make sure kids continue their learning even when school in cancelled, according to bill sponsor, State Representative Mike Fortner of West Chicago.

Students will have to put in five hours of online classwork on snow days. Just three school districts will be chosen to participate in the pilot program, which will last three years.
