A new study out of Mizzou links childhood obesity to poor performance in math.  Researchers say kids who were overweight from the start of kindergarten through fifth grade had lower scores on math tests than their peers.  They note obesity among children has increased dramatically over the past 40 years.

Lead researcher Sara Gable at the University of Missouri says the study suggests that obesity in the early years of school can harm a child's social and emotional well-being and hurt academic performance.
