St. Louis Zoo officials say stress likely led to the deaths of three harbor seals in June. The seals were being transported from a London, Ontario, theme park when one was found dead during a stop. The three remaining animals were taken to a Fort Wayne, Indiana, zoo where a second seal died.
A third seal passed away in Indianapolis, while the lone survivor is now living at the St. Louis Zoo's Sea Lion Sound. Officials say stress from traveling triggered muscle disease, which played a role in the seals' deaths.
