Street crews are planning a full-fledged assault on area roads today. They're trying to keep them clear and prevent them from freezing overnight. Efforts seem to be paying off as most of the major roads were in good shape for this morning's commute.
IDOT's Joe Monroe says having fewer cars on the roads today is a mixed blessing.
In Godfrey, Jim Lewis says his street crew has done a good job attacking area roadways.
Drivers are asked to give truck and plows plenty of room and to keep an eye out for icy patches.
