Illinois' fiscal year ends June 30, and the state could cruise into July with no agreement on a budget.
“Hopefully, there will be something worked out,” said State Rep. John Bradley (D-Marion), who chairs the House Revenue and Finance Committee.“If not, I'm going to continue to be here, and the General Assembly is going to continue to be here, until this gets done.”

“I'm certainly not going to push the panic button,” said State Rep. David Harris (R-Arlington Heights), the top Republican on the committee. “The state has never failed to make a payment; unfortunately, there may be a delay.”
Bradley wanted members of the governor's staff to answer questions about payroll of executive branch staff, hoping to show the Rauner administration is carrying more salary than did its predecessor.
