One state rep wants to give the pumpkin a bit more significance in Illinois. Republican Keith Summer has introduced a bill that would make pumpkin pie the official pie of the state. Illinois is already dubbed the pumpkin capital of the world, thanks to the central town of Morton. There's a Nestle plant there that pumps out more than 82-percent of the world's canned pumpkin products.
Pumpkin farming is big business in Illinois, bringing in more than 33-million-dollars-a-year.
