A measure passed earlier this month by the Illinois General Assembly will mean a transfer of responsibility of managing the state’s emergency management operations. Previously 911 operations had been regulated by the Illinois Commerce Commission but with the passing of House Bill 2453, that responsibility now falls on to the Illinois State Police.

The measure was sponsored by State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) and state leaders say the change will stabilize funding for 911 systems across the state.
