The Illinois State Police from District 11 in Collinsville have released their activity report for the month of October. According to that report, they issued 1,849 citatations during the month, a third of which were for speeding. Also included in that figure are 370 citations issued for seatbelt violations.Troopers made 110 criminal arrests as well as 32 arrests due to motorists driving under the influence.
The report also indicates that state troopers investigated 290 traffic accidents and assisted 535 motorists during the month of October.
The National Safety Council says that lack of occupant protection, alchol, and speeding are among the leading causes of motor-vehicle deaths in the United States and the Illinois State Police use enforcement activities as well as various educational programs to combat these factors.
