A major construction project in Godfrey is coming to an end, and a heavily traveled road should be open again by the weekend.  The Stamper Lane project has diverted traffic since late September, but the finishing touches are being put on the project this week.  The entrances to the Camelot Subdivision and the final layer of the surface of the road are the final order of business before the projected reopening on Friday .

Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says while it took a little getting used to, most were able to work around the closure with little problem.

McCormick comments

The work included the installation of curb and gutters and a modest widening of the road.  McCormick says the rest of the roadway will be widened and leveled as more state money becomes available during the 2017 fiscal year.
