A major construction project in Godfrey will close a heavily traveled road starting Monday. The Stamper Lane project will limit traffic on the roadway, but will not close it completely. Once it closes, those who want to get to Glazebrook Park will have to enter Stamper Lane from Pierce Lane, and those who live in the Camelot Subdivision will have to use the Godfrey Road entrance.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says the work should be completed by early December.
He says the work will include the installation of curb and gutters and a modest widening of the road. McCormick says the rest of the roadway will be widened and leveled as more state money becomes available during the 2017 fiscal year.
