Hoping to make a trip to the police station a more pleasant experience for children caught in the middle of a domestic situation, the South Roxana Police Chief has begun collecting toys and clothes for kids in their village. The Dollar General in the village does an inventory clearance every few months, and Chief Bob Coles asked them to donate what they could.
He tells The Big Z the idea is to give back to the kids and let them know the police officers are their friends.

Coles says when South Roxana officers deal with a domestic situation that either directly or indirectly involves a child, the kid will be allowed to find a toy they like and take it home.
