Motorists are again urged to give themselves time and use patience as they travel along Highway 67 through West Alton today. Traffic is still one lane in each direction between the Clark Bridge in Alton and Highway 94 in West Alton, when southbound traffic moves down to the lower lanes. The Missouri Department of Transportation continues to work to keep water off the low road.
Backwater began seeping onto the southbound lanes of Highway 67 near the Lewis Bridge on Wednesday, forcing motorists into one lane for most of the day. MoDOT District Engineer Larry Welty says it's been a challenge, but he believes they should be in good shape as the rivers slowly fall:

MoDOT suggests using alternate routes, especially during the height of rush hour in the morning and afternoon to avoid the long delays that were seen yesterday when traffic was backed up at times from river to river in both directions.
