Dr. Jeremy Jewell is a professor of psychology at Southern Illinois University and has been working to combat a rapidly growing epidemic, prescription opioid and heroin addiction. Jewell and his research team have collaborated with the Madison County Superior Court for Drug Treatment (MCSCDT) to implement and measure the effects of a 14-month drug court program.

Through the court, Jewell and his associates have facilitated diversified treatment opportunities for Madison County drug abuse victims, through grants from Project Safe Recovery and Project New Direction.
