The Riverbend took a direct hit from a wave of storms that by some measurements dropped about 5 inches of rain between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. The resulting flash flooding on area roadways has resulted in some damage, with the worst of it possibly located in Godfrey.
IDOT Engineer Joe Monroe tells The Big Z the rain caused significant damage on Route 3, also known as Delmar Avenue just north of the Stanka Lane intersection.

He says IDOT crews are examining areas that were inundated with water, fully expecting to see more damage.
