A local attorney is among three new people named to the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University. Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner named Amy Sholar of Alton today to the board post, along with two people from Carbondale.
Sholar is a 1998 graduate of SIU-Edwardsville, then earned her law degree from St. Louis University. She is currently in private practice in Alton, where she has maintained an office since 2004. Also named to the SIU Board of Trustees were U.S. District Court Judge John Gilbert, and Joel Sambursky, both of Carbondale. Judge Gilbert has been on the federal bench since 1992.
