Jason Plummer of Edwardsville has received a key endorsement in his bid for Congress. Long-time Congressman John Shimkus (left) has endorsed Plummer (right) in the fight for the 12th Congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Jerry Costello. Plummer will be opposed by Belleville's ex-mayor Roger Cook and newcomer Theresa Kormos of O'Fallon in the March primary.
Plummer says he is honored to have gained the support of Shimkus.
Shimkus says it is never an easy choice picking one party member over another.
Plummer, who ran for Illinois Lieutenant Governor in 2010, feels his experience would benefit the people of the 12th Congressional District. Plummer and Shimkus both stopped in at the Z-1570 studios Monday to announce the endorsement.
