Sheriffs around the state will be offering scholarships to students enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the state. It's time again for the annual scholarship application process to begin, and the Illinois Sheriffs' Association will be awarding over $53,000. That's one $500 scholarship for every county statewide.
In Madison County, students can pick up an application at the Madison County Sheriff's Office at 405 Randle Street in Edwardsville, or go online to the association's website and download the information. Madison County Sheriff Bob Hertz says the winner will be determined based on a combination of factors, including financial need, good grades, and how the student answers this year's essay question.
Applications and all paperwork are due back at the sheriff's office by March 12. For more information, you can pick up an application at the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Edwardsville, or follow the link: http://www.ilsheriff.org
