Madison County Sheriff John Lakin has been on the job for about three months, having taken the Oath of Office in early December. Since then, he has been reaching out to the members of the department to not only share his expectations, but to encourage them to enjoy their job and do it well.
It was a hotly contested primary race in which he beat his former boss for the nomination. He tells The Big Z he hopes to get along with everyone in the department.

Lakin ran unopposed in the November election. He left his job as a major with the sheriff's department about three years ago to work as police chief in Glen Carbon before launching a campaign for Sheriff last year.
