Madison County Sheriff John Lakin is recovering from double bypass surgery. The operation happened last week at Missouri Baptist Hospital due to blockage in his arteries. In a post on his Facebook page, Lakin says he is resting comfortably at home and will continue to do so for the next few weeks.
The 56-year-old underwent the surgery after consulting with his doctors in order to prevent issues in the future. He continued to say in the Facebook post that his doctor assured him his heart is strong and his health is good. Lakin has been Sheriff since 2014 after beating former Sheriff Bob Hertz in the Democratic primary.
