The Madison County Health Department hopes to bring awareness of sexual health to the forefront of conversations with residents of Madison County in the coming year. Sexual health is a topic many may find uncomfortable, but an educator at the department says the conversation is not nearly as uncomfortable, or in some cases as dangerous, as contracting one of the many Sexually Transmitted Infections in circulation.
Candice Zipfel, Health Educator, says they are focusing a lot on sexually transmitted infections.
She says with many STI's often going unrecognized due to a lack of symptoms and undiagnosed due to a lack of testing, STI prevention is a county-wide effort that begins with education.
