Several alleged thieves are off of Alton streets following a number of recent arrests. None of the suspects are over the age of 16, so they will be dealt with through the juvenile courts. Due to their status as juveniles, their identities are not available.
Two juveniles were arrested in connection with a vehicle burglary in the 1100 block of E. 5th Street, and that investigation led to the discovery that they had allegedly burglarized a total of 3 cars. In the other case, 5 suspects are charged with home invasion in the 1st block of Holly Hill Drive. Captain Scott Waldrup, Alton's Interim Police Chief, says both cases are a great example of the community becoming involved, in working with police.
He says the two cases appear to be unrelated, and does not believe these incidents to be a part of any "crime ring." He says the hope is that the suspects will learn early in life about the consequences of being involved in illegal activity.
