An East Alton man has been sentenced to seven years in prison following a guilty plea to child pornography charges earlier this year.  33-year-old Shaun Meyer was receiving child porn from a peer-to-peer filing-sharing network.  The United States Secret Service Illinois Cyber-Crime Unit busted him following an extensive Internet investigation.

Meyer was indicted for one count of Receipt of Child Pornography.  Agents obtained and executed a search warrant of Meyer’s residence and seized his laptop. Meyer admitted to police that he had been downloading child pornography from the Internet for around two years.  In addition to the seven-year sentence, Meyer has been ordered to pay $6000 in restitution, will be on federal supervised release for 5 years, and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
