A former student at SIU-Edwardsville will be sentenced this week after being found guilty of making a terrorist threat in late October. 26-year-old Olutosin Oduwole was taken into custody with his bond revoked following the trial and could face up to 15 years in jail at his sentencing, or could simply be placed on probation. Prosecutors say he was planning a campus shooting spree, while his defense says he was an aspiring rap music artist.

A note found inside Oduwole's car was a key piece of evidence, along with a handgun found in his apartment. However, a video file created by Oduwole was also found on his girlfriends computer which he had borrowed several times. The girlfriend was also responsible for setting up a Pay Pal account on-line, in which prosecutor say Oduwole wanted ransome placed according to his note. The man's defense team says the note found inside his car were lyrics to a rap song and were not a threat. The note said he wanted $50,000 donated to the account or a murderous rampage would result on the SIUE campus, similar to the shootings of a few years ago on the Virginia Tech campus.
