The sponsor of major education funding reform legislation is dismissing efforts to derail his plan. The Illinois Senate passed Senator Andy Manar's (D-Bunker Hill) proposal last spring, which shifts state money to the schools that need it the most. Republicans have filed a resolution to kill the bill, fearing the plan will mean big cuts to some districts.
But Manar says it's about equity.
