Illinois senators have passed a casino expansion bill that they hope the governor will like. The bill, which includes many previously discussed items, takes out Internet gambling, bans campaign contributions by gambling license-holders, and gives the Illinois Gaming Board oversight over a Chicago casino.

The other new casinos would be in Chicago’s north suburbs, south suburbs, Rockford, and Danville. Slot machines could be placed at the state’s horse tracks and in private clubs at Chicago’s two airports.

The final deal materialized quickly, shooting through both a committee hearing and a floor debate on Wednesday.
