Illinois could soon reinstate a hunting and trapping season for bobcats. Once listed on the threatened species list, the bobcat has made a significant comeback in recent years. State Senator Sam McCann (R-Carlinville) is the sponsor of legislation to reestablish the bobcat-hunting season.
He told his colleagues during debate Thursday, hunting is a proven management tool.

The Illinois Senate voted 32-17 in favor of the legislation, which now heads back to the Illinois House for final approval.
