A second teller at the First National Bank of Staunton in Holiday Shores has been arrested on a felony theft charge. 29-year-old Jamie L. Gajewski (pictured) of the 1,200 block of Nassau Drive in Edwardsville has been charged with felony theft over $10,000. She was arrested earlier this week on a $60,000 bond.
She posted bond shortly after her arrest on Thursday. In early February, a co-worker, 51-year-old Lori A. Surgant of Edwardsville, was also charged with felony theft from the bank- in her case, felony theft over $500. Captain Mike Dixon of the Madison County Sheriff's Department says it is not known if they were working together.
Surgant is accused of stealing $7,000 from the bank branch, while Gajewski is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from a customer's business account. Dixon says the bank is continuing to monitor and assist in the investigation, and is doing all it can to make sure their customer's money is accounted for. Dixon says Gajewski allegedly stole the money before it was entered into the bank's records.
