Threats at Alton High School and Alton Middle School Monday are still being investigated by the Alton Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff's Department. The unnamed threats were phoned in at nearly the same time near the noon hour, with students and staff being relocated to nearby churches as a precaution.
Nothing suspicious was found at either location, and the buildings were given the "all clear" at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Alton School District Assistant Superintendent Kristie Baumgartner tells The Big Z they had a debriefing Tuesday morning to review their emergency plans, and are constantly looking to improve upon that process.

Alton High School students were relocated to Heartland Baptist Church and the AHS Athletic Complex, while Alton Middle School relocated students to Main Street Methodist and Calvary Baptist Churches in Upper Alton.
