More backlash for grocery store chain Schnucks. The retailer is being sued by its own insurance company over a major security breach, where millions of customers' private information was compromised. So far eight of those customers have filed suit against Schnucks. Now insurer Liberty Mutual says it's not responsible for paying damages in any legal claim.
Liberty Mutual says its responsibility covers physical and property damages and does not cover cyber liability. A security breach at a number of Schnuck's stores in the St. Louis Metro area, including the River Bend, resulted in debit card data breach of more than 2-million customers. Schnucks calls the decision by the insurance company "disappointing and surprising."
