Schnucks customers are being urged to get a new debit or credit card if they used them at any one of their stores over the past few months. Local banks are also recommending cardholders cancel their current card and order a new one. Officials say nearly two-point-four million customers may have had their accounts compromised between December 10th and March 29th.
Among those affected are customers at the Alton, Bethalto, and Granite City stores. They discovered that only debit and credit card numbers and expiration dates were obtained during the breach of security but no names, addresses or other personal information was revealed. Schnucks has released a list showing 79 of its 100 stores in the midwest were impacted including the Schnucks on the Homer Adams Parkway, the location in Bethalto at Airport Plaza, and in Granite City at 3100 Madison Avenue. The stores in Godfrey and Edwardsville were not on the list. The store has set up a hotline for questions from customers about the issue at 1-888-414-8022.
