While much of the attention on IDOT road projects has been on the completion of Illinois 255 from Seminary to Humbert Road in Godfrey, another project is moving along at or ahead of schedule. Route 140 from Alton to Bethalto has been undergoing a complete resurfacing for much of the year, but the barricades and cones are about ready to be put away on that project as well.
The complete resurfacing will cost about $5.4 million. IDOT Field Engineer Joe Gasaway says work is progressing nicely, and may be done a little before the new November 15 projected completion date.
There have been lane restrictions between Annex Street in Alton and Williams Street in Bethalto at various times throughout the project.
