Alton High School graduate John Bohn received one more honor before closing the book on high school career. The Valedictorian from the Class of 2016 was named the Student of the Year by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club at last night's banquet. As a result he will receive a $6,000 scholarship to help cover the costs of his college education.

Bohn will be attending the University of Illinois as a James Scholar majoring in chemical engineering. Other awardees at last night's banquet include Alton High's Ann Ruckman, who will receive a $300 Interact Student Service Award scholarship, and Jeffrey Sherwood & Adam Wagner, two LCCC students enrolled in technical programs at the college. They each received William E. Moyer Vocational Arts and Science scholarships worth $1500.
