It’s been about 25 years since the waterfall at the entrance to Rock Spring Park has been operational, but thanks to the work of many volunteers, that is about to change. At 3pm Tuesday, city crews are set to flip the switch and bring the water display back to life. Alton Public Works Director Bob Barnhart says there was a lot of work that went into getting to this point.

He says electrical contractors donated their time, and a new water line was run to the fountain, and the park maintenance division rebuilt the pump. The Rock Spring 2020 group has been working on restoring the park on College Avenue to the condition enjoyed in its heyday decades ago, and this is one piece to that puzzle.
