Law enforcement officials in Madison County believe they have the suspect they've been seeking in connection with a string of armed robberies in Granite City. 27-year-old Ryan Eastling allegedly wound up in the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in one of the robberies he is accused of.
On June 14th, investigators say Eastling committed a crime spree that involved robbing at least three people at gunpoint within 90-minuites. In each case, the victims were held-up as they sat in their cars. Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons tells The Big Z it is a relief to have Eastling off the streets.

Police say Eastling led police on a car chase after one of the crimes, fleeing on foot after crashing the car into a building in Madison. The car had been reported stolen from St. Louis, so more charges against him are expected there, and Gibbons says he may also face federal charges.
