Alton Police continue to look for suspects in two violent incidents late last week in the city. One, an armed robbery of a cell phone store and the other a home invasion and shooting of an occupant of the home. Police have partial descriptions of suspects, but so far no arrests have been made.
In the shooting case from last Friday evening, the man who was shot remains in critical condition after three armed men forced their way into his mobile home in the 300 block of Aladdin Avenue and committed the crime. Four other people inside the home were not injured. The three men fled in a gray, four-door Dodge Dart or Honda sedan with a sunroof.
Last Thursday evening, the Alton Sprint Store on the Homer Adams Parkway was robbed by two armed men who according to Alton Police, may be connected to robberies of other Sprint stores in Illinois and Missouri. In the Alton case, police say one suspect held the employees at gunpoint while the other tied them up. A number of cell phones were stolen along with cash from the store. The suspects were described as black males, 20 to 25 years old, one suspect wore a red hat, red hooded sweatshirt and red bandana over his face. The other wore a black hat, sweatshirt and black bandana over his face. The two fled the store in a car that was found the next day by Alton Police along Route 140 near Gordon Moore Park. It was reported stolen out of Georgia.
