Utility companies continue to cause roadwork in the Village of Bethalto to be delayed. Bethalto Mayor Steve Bryant informed the village board that the planned project on Roosevelt Street will not be completed until next spring during last night’s board meeting. Phase one of the project was originally scheduled to be finished in mid-October. While the entire project won’t be finished until next spring, Bryant says that some work might still get done over the winter.
In other village news, a one-alarm fire destroyed a vacant home in the 200 block of East Sherman Street on Saturday night according to Bethalto Fire Chief Richard Mersinger. Fire crews from Bethalto, Meadowbrook, Rosewood Heights and Holiday Shores responded to the scene of the fire around 8pm. State Fire Marshals have been called in to help determine the cause of the fire.
