Crews from the Illinois and Missouri Departments of Transportation will continue surveying area roadways today as flood water continues to recede. The Great River Road from Route 67 in Alton to Route 3 in Grafton was reopened Monday but there is no timetable for the reopening of the lower lanes of US Route 67 heading out of Alton.
IDOT's Joe Monroe says there was a lot of debris removed from the Great River Road on Monday.
MoDot Engineer Larry Welty says that the process for reopening the lower lanes of 67 in West Alton could begin after they meet with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today.
Welty says there is also no timetable for when St. Charles County roads will reopen and that the access road to Lincoln Shields recreation area is the only place they have encountered substantial damage.
