Alton will be restarting the Riverview Park redevelopment project this spring. The city has been awarded over $550,000 in grants since 2012, but the clock is ticking, with the National Scenic Byways Grant funding set to expire later this year.

Haynes says the primary feature of the project will be an overlook shelter on the bluff, a limestone plaza, renovations to the existing bandstand and restrooms, new walkways and solar lighting.
