Although there were widespread power outages, most of the Riverbend escaped significant damage when the storms blew through the area late Saturday afternoon.  Tens of thousands of people lost power when strong winds toppled trees and brought down power lines.

Other areas of the Metro-East had more severe damage.  About 44,000 Ameren customers were without power at one point.  The utility reports strong winds with gusts of up to 70mph brought down 15 sub-transmission lines.
