Lawmakers will not try to override the governor’s veto of a bill regulating ride-sharing companies in Illinois.  Instead, the bill’s sponsor in the House – State Representative Mike Zalewski (D-Riverside) – says he’s gone back to the drawing board and ironed out an agreement, in principal, on a bill.

Zalewski says he has what amounts to a “gentleman’s agreement” with the interested parties to move forward with a bill that will include requiring primary insurance coverage, background checks and licensing requirements. However, capping driver’s hours appears to be off the table.  Zalewski hopes to pass the bill before a new General Assembly is sworn in next year.
