Two Republicans are looking to take Senator Dick Durbin’s job. Jim Oberweis and Doug Truax filed nominating petitions to get on the primary ballot for next year’s election. The primary winner will take on Durbin in the general election but it won’t likely be an easy feat. Durbin has been in the U.S. Congress since 1983.
He joined the Senate in 1997 and holds the second highest ranking position as Majority Whip. Durbin also has a hefty sized bank account with nearly five-million dollars cash on hand.
