Newly re-elected U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. is in the midst of negotiating a plea deal with federal officials investigating his alleged misuse of campaign funds. The "Sun-Times" reports Jackson is in discussions although no one has pleaded guilty. Jackson easily won re-election on Tuesday despite not being seen in public for several months.
The Chicago-area Democrat has also returned to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he's being treated for depression and bipolar disorder. Jackson has previously denied any wrongdoing in connection with the allegations.
