Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner is raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars from big-money donors. Political Scientist Kent Redfield from the U of I Springfield says there's no doubt the cash infusion has other candidates nervous, but it doesn't guarantee a win.
Redfield says Rauner has to play catch up to put himself on the same playing field as the other GOP candidates, who have already won major elections in Illinois. Redfield says it appears Rauner is trying to build momentum before the holidays, and before other candidates hit the ground running. He says campaign season will really pick up come January.
