Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has been visiting schools this week, talking about the need for education reforms. The governor is reiterating his desire to free schools from costly unfunded mandates and spend more money on preschool and K-12 education.
Rauner says he also wants to see waste eliminated from all levels of education in Illinois.

Rauner visited Belleville West High School on Thursday to pitch his plan. Meanwhile, just to the north in Edwardsville, district administrators have learned the state is going to be looking deeper into its finances. The Edwardsville School District has been on a state financial watch list for almost a year. The district will now have to provide the state with information about cashflow, payroll, contracts and more by next Friday.
