Area seniors joined Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs Thursday to call on the governor and the General Assembly to pass a state budget. Frerichs stopped at Senior Services Plus in Alton to make that plea to the decision makers in Springfield. He says passing the budget will restore funding to critical programs and services that thousands of Illinoisans depend on.
Frerichs tells The Big Z he is touring the state sharing this message to give seniors a voice.

Frerichs says we are in the fifth month without a budget, and the state is now in “crisis mode.” He is hopeful the upcoming public budget talks will yield some kind of agreement. In the meantime, he asks you call your local State Representative, State Senator and even the Governor’s office to offer your opinion on the budget impasse.
