Governor Pat Quinn is taking off on a six-day mission to Brazil. The trip is designed to boost business between Illinois and Brazil. Illinois exports to Brazil totaled about two-and-a-half-billion dollars last year, up 24 percent from 2010.
He says he wants more Brazilians to check out all the great attractions Illinois has to offer.
And when it comes to education, nine Illinois universities and colleges are hosting 91 Brazilian students this year through a special exchange program. Leaders from Illinois businesses, educational institutions, and state and local governments will accompany Quinn on the trip. They leave today.
